Benefits Of Massage In The Work Place And At Home By London Sutton Mobile Full Body Massage Therapist Theo

17 05 2011

Stress comes in a number of different forms and affects us in different ways. The most common form of stress in the Work Place is stiffness of the shoulders and headaches . The main cause of this is the computer, sitting at our desks hours at a time with no breaks or release.

And Relax!!!!

If this is not dealt with over a time, headaches can turn into migraines and the stiffness into acute back ache, which could lead to major back problems. This will seriously affect your work productivity, your relationships with colleagues and harmony with the whole family at home and your life itself.

By following a few easy steps your whole work and family life can me changed around positively. First of all, if you are already feeling headaches and stiffness in your back and shoulders you need to sort this before it gets any worse. The longer you leave it, the longer it will take to balance you out. You would usually incur tightness in the shoulders first, which will lead to headaches. This is because you shoulder muscles are contracting causing diminishing blood flow to the head. This is where massage comes in in breaking down the stiff muscle groups in the shoulders and upper back. The tightness you feel is known as knots. These are tight muscles, which need to be broken down. This is done by manipulating the body tissues of the muscles, which is the main principle of massage.

Process of Having a Massage: firstly you will fill out a short consultation form for health and safety reasons and for me to find out how you are feeling both physically and mentally. Not all forms of tightness in the body are caused by physical reasons. I will then explain exactly what type of massage will be carried out and how I will be doing this. This is so you know exactly what is going to happen with no surprises, which will keep you more relaxed throughout your personal massage. All massages are carried out on a Massage Couch, unless it is in the Work Place using My Onsite Chair Massage. You will be covered by towels at all times, except when massaging that particular limb, back etc. and the towel will be draped over, then covered back. When carry out a full body massage on the couch, you will undress down to your underwear and for the ladies the bra removed and lie down on the couch. Oil will be applied to my hands then onto your body. As I start with a scalp massage, you have the choice weather I use oil in the hair or not. Through different massage strokes I will help break down the tension in the body, always checking with you if the pressure is okay. If you are very tight I will have to break done the tension layers carefully. You cannot expect them all to disappear in one go. Therefor a few sessions may be needed. Once we have alleviated your tension we will work at ways of maintaining you, so you don’t go back to the way you were. This can be done by having a better working practice, from taking very short breaks in-between your computer work and drinking more water to having more “Me Time”. Little, but often forms of exercise and massage is great.

One of the most common questions I always get asked is, “How often should I have a Massage?”
As I have clients I see once a week, a fortnight, every three weeks to once a month. I always reply with, You know how you felt before I massaged you and you know how you feel like now, when you feel you need to feel like this now, this is when you need one”.

Surrey Mobile Massage Therapist Theo Theodoris has his First Experience with a Client with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

27 10 2010

For the last four weeks Sutton Surrey based Mobile Massage Therapist Theo Theodoris has been Massaging a client with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). You may ask, “What is Motor Neurone Disease (MND)”

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.
(Quote taken from http://www.mndassociation.org )

Theo and the client know massage with not cure the  MND, but can see the difference it has made in just four weeks. It has improved his mobility, stiffness, motivation and mind set. On the first visit the client was quite stiff and in some pain. On the second visit we changed the sequence of the Massage, which worked a lot better. We now know what time periods to work on certain parts of the body. We always leave the back to last, as this makes the client thoroughly relaxed and drift off.

Theo enjoys seeing his client weekly and still is totally amazed after all these years how a simple Massage can do so much for anyone, immaterial of what condition they might be.  A lot of Theo’s home Massage clients enjoy the effects of a Full Body Massage on both a physical and mental state.

Massage In The Work Place “Chair Massage” / “On-Site Massage”

20 08 2009
In the Work Place

In the Work Place

The Chair Massage or Work Place Massage is ideal for Companies and can be scheduled during working hours.  Chair massage is also great for Staff-Employee Incentives and Special Events, such as Promotions, Conferences, etc.

A stiff neck – Achy shoulders – Back pain.  Anyone who has ever sat behind a desk all day will recognize the symptoms of workplace fatigue.

Most office related physical symptoms can be attributed to loss of circulation. Tight muscles caused by stress and sitting behind a desk all day, especially at a work station that is not ergonomically designed, can impede blood and lymph flow through the body. The result is mental fogginess, decreased energy and susceptibility to repetitive stress injuries, like carpal tunnel syndrome.

Chair massage counters the circulatory problems inherent with office work and provides a much appreciated break for employees.  A Chair Massage will open up the back muscles, relieves strain on the neck and provides a gentle respite for eyes usually glued to a computer monitor.  A 10/15 minute Massage to the back, neck and shoulders can increase circulation, relieve those achy muscles and rejuvenate your Work Force and help keep the body injury free.

Regular Chair Massage will also have a dramatic effect on you Staff absentees and Work Output.
