Surrey Mobile Massage Therapist Theo Theodoris has his First Experience with a Client with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

27 10 2010

For the last four weeks Sutton Surrey based Mobile Massage Therapist Theo Theodoris has been Massaging a client with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). You may ask, “What is Motor Neurone Disease (MND)”

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

Theo and the client know massage with not cure the  MND, but can see the difference it has made in just four weeks. It has improved his mobility, stiffness, motivation and mind set. On the first visit the client was quite stiff and in some pain. On the second visit we changed the sequence of the Massage, which worked a lot better. We now know what time periods to work on certain parts of the body. We always leave the back to last, as this makes the client thoroughly relaxed and drift off.

Theo enjoys seeing his client weekly and still is totally amazed after all these years how a simple Massage can do so much for anyone, immaterial of what condition they might be.  A lot of Theo’s home Massage clients enjoy the effects of a Full Body Massage on both a physical and mental state.

Chairman Theo came up with this , which every Therapist was happy to take part in.

All SCHN members agreed to donated a percentage of their treatment fees when receiving a treatment booking and  St Raphael’s Hospice was mentioned between the above dates.  People pampered and treated friends, knowing that at the same time they would be supporting St Raphael’s Hospice in North Cheam.  To view all the SCHN Therapists, just click Therapies on the top left of this page.
